What is coffee-free Oreo tiramisù?

As said, we all know what it is a classic tiramisù and if you don’t, you can check out our recipe here. It’s a super simple recipe and you will be able to make an extremely delicious tiramisù, ready for a perfect Sunday coffee moment with your family or friends, or for any party you are throwing. Everyone will love it. Unlike the classic version of tiramisù, this one doesn’t use any coffee and instead, the cookie base is dipped in a cocoa and milk mixture.

If instead, you prefer to try out this coffee-free Oreo version, keep reading this. Our version of Oreo tiramisù is not done using one big baking dish, but individual portion-sized glasses. We made it to celebrate the release of a new season of one of the TV series we like to watch. We wanted to make something fast, so we opted for a tiramisù in glasses with lots of cookies, both in and on the tiramisù.

Our coffee-free Oreo tiramisù is faster to make than a classic tiramisù, where you do not need a baking dish, but a couple of glasses and you will just spoon it in little by little.

Ingredients for a perfect coffee-free Oreo tiramisù

Even if the name does mention Oreos, you can easily use any Oreo-like cookie. As you can see from our picture, we used a different brand, but the result won’t change! The important thing is the similar chocolaty taste of the cookie itself. The recipe does not require any of the vanilla cookie cream of the cookies, so just scoop it out and keep the cookie halves intact.

In this recipe, unlike with the original Tiramisù, we did not use coffee, so it is even more suitable for children. We dipped the chocolate cookies in milk mixed with cocoa to boost their flavor.

The rest of the ingredients are pretty basic: eggs, mascarpone, and sugar. Nothing complicated, and most probably all ingredients that you already have in your fridge and pantry.

An important rule to follow for every time you make tiramisù, whichever kind, is to have extra fresh eggs. As you know, this is a no-bake coffee-free Oreo tiramisù recipe, so you will eat raw eggs. It’s of extreme importance that you pay attention to what eggs you use to make sure they are safe to eat.

Which glasses to use

Our glasses are 9cm tall and 8cm wide and we used more or less 200 grams of cookies. We placed some mascarpone on the bottom, added around 3-4 cookies, then a second layer, again 3-4 cookies, and then the top mascarpone layer, with cocoa and some cookies on top of everything. Of course, you are free to change the number of cookies you want to place. The less you use, the more you will taste exclusively the mascarpone cream. The more you use, the more the softness of the mascarpone will mix with the crunchiness of the cookies.

With this coffee-free Oreo tiramisù recipe, we filled four glasses of the aforementioned measures. We love tiramisù and we needed an extra boost of sugar for the evening, so we ate two each. We can say that one glass per person is more than enough as a dessert, above all after a meal. If you make this for two people, just half the amount.

How to store coffee-free Oreo tiramisù

If you are unable to finish your tiramisù or if you want to make more and store them for later, we highly recommend you consume it before three days. As there are cookies in this recipe, pay attention to the fact that it will become softer. If possible, do not store it but consume it when made or as soon as possible. As you can easily see from this recipe, it does not take a long time to make.

When storing, the recommendation is always to cover the food in a proper way. If possible, store it in an air-tight container. In any case, do not leave it in the refrigerator the way it is.

Alternatively, you can store it in the freezer for around a month. Thaw it before eating your coffee-free Oreo tiramisù.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Oreos or similar cookies
  • 100 milliliters milk
  • 10 grams sugar for the milk-cocoa powder
  • 20 grams cocoa powder
  • 400 grams mascarpone
  • 100 grams sugar for the mascarpone mix
  • 4 eggs
  • cocoa powder for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  • Start by opening all the cookies and scraping out the filling.
  • Separate the egg whites and egg yolks. First, whip the egg whites into a thick white mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the egg yolks with 100g (½ cup) of sugar. Whip for about 5 minutes until mixed well into a foam.
  • Add mascarpone into the bowl with whipped egg yolks and sugar. Mix gently with a rubber spatula.
  • Add the whipped egg whites and fold them in the mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the 20g (4tbsp) of cocoa powder, sugar, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  • Add some of the mascarpone mixture into 4 glasses (preferably wide and not too tall).
  • Dip the emptied oreo halves into the cocoa-milk mixture and place them into the glass on top of the mixture. Create a layer and split some of them to make them into a layer. Stack the other dipped oreo halves on top to have a layer of two cookie halves thick.
  • Add mascarpone mix until you cover a bit less than 2/3 of the glass. Then add another similar layer of dipped Oreos. Finally, fill the rest of the glass with the mascarpone mix.
  • You can enjoy the Oreo tiramisù cups immediately but if you prefer a denser texture, let them rest in the fridge for a couple of hours.
  • Before serving, cover the surface with cocoa powder and add one or two oreo halves on top for decoration.

This is such a great idea to incorporate Oreos into a recipe! Yum! As a coffee lover, of course I miss the coffee, but I can drink it with it! 😀
