Ingredients
 
 

  • 200 grams firm tofu we use smoked tofu strips that are perfect for this
  • 50 milliliters tamari
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoons pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoons onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke If not using smoked marinated tofu.

Instructions
 

  • If using a block of tofu, drain it well. Preheat oven to 200°C. Cut the tofu into thin strips. The size of the strips can vary, depending on how you need them.
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients together to create a marinade. Dip the pieces of tofu in the marinade.
  • Place the pieces onto baking paper and bake for approx. 10 minutes. Depending on the size of the strips, you may want to flip them and cook them for a bit longer. Just watch out for the tofu as the marinade can burn easily.

Notes

  • Note that you don't always need the bacon to be super smoky, depending on where you use it. When you want a less intense flavor, just leave out the liquid smoke completely.
